Our Story

 

It all started when our founder Ramy Bahgat began experimenting in the kitchen to create liege waffle dough. He spent more than a year perfecting his recipe for the dough, which is made from yeast and takes hours to rise before becoming transformed into the perfect waffle.

Liege waffles are made with a thicker batter that is similar to bread dough, and pearl sugar is mixed in with the dough creating a delicious caramelization when the waffle is cooking on our irons. Big League Waffles are thicker, richer and chewier than the traditional Brussels waffles you might find elsewhere.

Our founder Ramy also has a love for ice cream and thought pairing homemade ice cream from a local North Carolina dairy farm would be the perfect addition to his liege waffles. You’ll find 12 delicious ice cream flavors you can place on top of our waffles, transform into a milkshake, or enjoy in a homemade waffle cone or cup.
